Liturgical Year

The Liturgical Year, also known as the Christian calendar, is a way of shaping our lives around the story of Jesus Christ. It has deep roots in the rhythms of worship established by God for Israel, who observed holy days and seasons to remember His mighty acts of salvation. In a similar way, the Church follows a yearly cycle that keeps us centered on the person and work of Christ, who is the fulfillment of Israel’s mission in the world.

At the heart of the liturgical year is the story of Jesus—his birth, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension to the Father. The seasons of the Church calendar—Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost—lead us through his story, drawing us into the mystery of salvation. In particular, the cross and the resurrection stand as the focal point of Christian time, shaping how we worship and live. By observing these sacred rhythms, we walk in step with the life of Christ and become more like Him.
